Triple Threat – Meet Some of our Basketball Stars
Three talented basketball players from Esher Sixth Form College, Gulliver, Joe, and Charlie, are busy juggling their A Level studies with intense training and competition schedules. The trio represent the College’s basketball team while also playing for the London Spartans, a highly competitive team in the National Basketball League.

The students’ demanding routine includes Spartans’ training sessions on Monday and Thursday evenings, with fixtures on Saturdays, alongside College training on Mondays and games on Wednesdays.
The London Spartans play at a high standard of competition, which challenges the players to constantly up their game. Meanwhile, playing for Esher Sixth Form College gives them a midweek opportunity to refine their skills in a supportive environment. The College team offers a chance to take on leadership roles, try new strategies, and enjoy a Surrey-based league.
Despite their packed schedules, the three players thrive on their passion for the sport and are committed to their studies.
Gulliver, who plans to study Economics at university, sees basketball as an integral part of his future. “I really enjoy the sport and look forward to playing in a competitive higher education league. It’s a great way to meet people,” he says.
Joe, who hopes to study History at Nottingham University, also values basketball as a way to connect with others. “I love the sport, but it’s really useful socially to join a team and get to know people when starting at uni,” he shares.
Charlie plans on taking a gap year after Esher and take on a coaching role at Spartans Basketball Academy. “I am studying the Sports Coaching and Development Diploma and I am really looking forward to getting underway with coaching in a sport I love,” he shared.
The Esher Sixth Form College Men’s Basketball team is currently sitting at the top of the league with seven wins and just one loss so far. We would wish the team the best of luck for the rest of the season, but something tells us they won’t need it.
