Last week, 6.1 Politics students went to Westminster to learn more about the UK political system. On the trip they were taken through the ornate hallways of the House of Lords before moving through to the less embellished House of Common to learn about protocol and the way votes and discussions are carried out.

After workshops about the Stages of Law and the different electoral systems, the students were joined by Lord Rennard (Liberal-Democrat) who explained how he became a Lord and the parliamentary processes associated with his job. The day ended with a trip to the Supreme Court.

Evie Graham-Taylor, a first year Politics Student, says, “I feel everyone had a really good time and the trip was really useful in helping us understand the political system better because we were able to engage with the information and it made for an excellent and informative experience."
