Sociology Students: Talk on Crime and Deviance

​​Sociology Students welcomed Shaun Attwood, to hear how he went from being a stock market millionaire to being incarcerated in one of America’s toughest prisons. ​

Talking about the consequences he faced by getting involved in drugs and crime – he spoke about the effects of Capitalism within the prison system and the realities versus the glamorisation of the criminal justice system.

Attwood has written several books on his experiences and also talked about the issues affecting prisoners’ rights.  While he would normally speak to students in College​, more than 120 sociologists were able to listen in, via Microsoft Teams, asking some great questions at the end.
