The Charlie O’ Donoghue Award 2014
Esher College awarded its annual Sports Person of the Year Award this month. The award is given to a second year student who has demonstrated outstanding sporting achievements and behaviour during their time at the College. The award is presented in memory of Charlie O’ Donoghue, an Esher College student, who tragically died in 2003. This very special award is handed out annually at the Sports Awards Dinner which was held on Wednesday 2nd April at Esher RFC.
This year the award has been shared by two students Isobel Giltrow and Eugene Ambali. Isobel has been a dedicated member of the Esher College netball team for the past two seasons. Vicki Corp, who coaches the netball team, said "Isobel always puts maximum effort in during all matches played. Her passionate and committed approach to captaining the team is a real motivation to the other members of the team."
Steve Fuller, who oversees basketball, said of Eugene "He has shown exemplary leadership captaining the team and helped out in all aspects of the season."
